Being on the Self Sufficient Hub Podcast!

My son, Alex, whom you will hear more from in later posts, was recently quarantined for work.  He didn’t have it too bad — he spent a few weeks in a hotel room working remotely and listening to various podcasts on the internet.  Knowing my interests and having read all of my blogs, he decided to find out more about homesteading and came across Carl Mintern’s podcasts at the Self-Sufficient Hub.

Self Sufficient Hub
A great website for anyone looking to homestead or wanting to learn about topics related to that.

Carl has been homesteading for some years and has been making podcasts on any topics related to self-sufficiency for a little over a year.  He covers gardening, raising poultry and other animals, foraging and a wide range of other subjects from his own activities or those of other people.  He also does this in an engaging and very informative manner.  Alex suggested to me that I should reach out to him and find out if my story would be of interest.

Carl responded very quickly to my request and in no time at all we had done a podcast about what I’ve been doing and the things that led me to do this.  Not long after we recorded that, Alex asked Carl if he would do another episode on his own journey to homesteading.  That led to Carl posting a very interesting story!

Since Alex got me interested in Carl’s podcasts, I have listened to many others starting with the first ones he did in early 2020.  I have learned a great many things that are useful and would certainly encourage anyone who wants to know more about self-sufficiency to check out his work. Most of the recordings are between 15 and 30 minutes long, but I have to admit that I really enjoy listening to people who are not Americans speak English.  Of all the variations, Scottish is probably my favorite, but England’s English is a close second.

Even though my podcast was a bit impromptu, I think that we did a pretty good job of it!  I am looking forward to speaking with Carl again as we get more established with animals and plants so that I can give him and his listeners an update on my adventures.  Hopefully, we will be able to discuss the next one ahead of time and know what we will be covering!

  1. That’s great. The more people that get educated on the homesteading adventure the better. I’m glad I could help with your adventure!
